Our Black Angus

Foxbard Farm takes pride in the quality, pedigree, and wellbeing of our animals. Bred naturally in the fields, our Angus spend about half the year grazing on the prime pastures surrounding the Farm. During the winter months, the herd shelters in winter pastures and several barns on the property where they feed on the hay we put up during the summer months. We supplement their primary grass-fed diet with a small amount of GMO-free grain from Five Point Farm in Northfield which ensures the health of the animals and the quality of our products.

A Small, Growing Herd

After welcoming thirteen new calves this Spring, we have about 40 head. We'll continue to grow the herd in the coming years, slowly increasing the inventory of finished products we bring to market.

Care and Feeding

"Annie", a heifer calved in the Spring of 2025, lost her mother to natural causes. Bottle feeding is a great way to help her grow until she's ready to join the herd later this year.

Happy and Healthy Cows

We breed and raise our cows naturally at the Farm without steroids or unnecessary supplements. Breeding our own protects their pedigree and allows us to properly maintain and grow a healthy herd.

Availability of Foxbard Beef

Despite strong demand from families, local markets and restaurants, the family paused selling beef shortly after the passing of John Payne in 2018. Recently, 3rd generation family members relocated to the Farm and are working hard to grow the herd and resume full-scale operations as a trusted provider of high-quality beef.

Starting with 40+ animals from the original herd, we plan to grow the herd back to it's former size and ramp up operations to reach old and new retail and wholesale customers. Some beef will become available late in 2025, and more in 2026.
